So here’s my piece for the First and Last show currently on at Counihan Gallery.

It was hectic, it was fun and it was interesting. I kind of want to forget about the whole thing and move on but I need to give an artist talk about them on the 16th of June.

Turns out I don’t have any decent photos showing the scale of the thing but it ended up being 80 different creatures big.

The opening night was pretty great. Thanks to everyone that showed up for all your support. I was very overwhelmed and humbled by all your kind words. I had no idea what a fancy thing the opening would be until it was happening. The mayor of Moreland gave a speech mispronouncing my first name yet somehow getting my surname right and today I learned there’s a rumour that he ended up going out drinking with us.

So that’s it! You haven’t seen the last of those guys yet though. I’ll tool around with them for my solo show at BrunswickArts in August plus I’d like to see them coloured and made into stickers and have a small zine with them along with some writing.

The Melting Ice Cream Truck by The Glue Society

They may have ruined a perfectly servicable ice cream truck, but The Glue Society won $5,000 in the process as part of the Sculpture by the Sea exhibit that occurs annually in Australia.

(PRE-EMPTIVE DISCLAIMER: Many websites are mistakenly crediting this to Orest Keywan, who *explicitly states* on his website that he is not the creator. So you know… stop doing it)

Ive Sorocuk here! I’m studio-sitting in Squishface while the Caravan of Comics is happening.
I’m working on a bunch of monsters for an upcoming exhibition at the Counihan Gallery   (right down the road from Squishface) opening on the 24th of May. Details here.
These are just the preparation doodles of course. The full page ones are neat and pretty, I promise.

That’s me!

WAT?
thefrogman:

Get a giant telephoto lens.
Start zoomed all the way out.
Step back a few feet and zoom in so the object is the same size.
Repeat.
Or it’s witchcraft and we need to set this photographer on fire.

We spent an entire day of school trying to do this and not really succeeding. Last week on the live 30 Rock they did it in the opening LIVE and it made me a little grumpy.
